The theme of Egmont is victory over tyranny, a subject perfectly suited for Beethoven. This stirring overture is an audience (and performer) favorite. Egmont was composed by Beethoven during his "heroic period," in the middle-part of his musical career.  These years also span the transition from the Classical Period to the Romantic Era in music. The arrangement of the complete overture, is scored for brass quintet, organ and (optional) timpani.  Performance time, about 9:00. Suitable for a recital, classical concert or pops concert.
