Product Description

America (My County, Tis of Thee) has its musical roots in the hymn to the British monarch, "God Save the King(Queen)". The actual musical source is unknown, most attributing it to Henry Carey (1687-1743) in 1730, a few others to a (now lost) manuscript sent to the English King by the Queen of France. After the American Revolution (and even before) words with an American patriotic flair were substituted. The American words best known today are by Samuel Francis Smith (1808-1895).
