This is in ABA form entirely set in the minor mode. The violin begins with a legato, rolling eighth note figure that accompanies the melody in the piano. The B section should be performed much more freely. This is a hauntingly beautiful piece. It is the second in a set of 12 Spanish dances from the piano repertoire and dates from 1890.
