Product Description

Johann Sebastian Bach Chaconne from Partita II - Unaccompanied piece transcribed for solo clarinet by John Gibson. J. S. Bach's suites for unaccompanied violin and cello are mainstays of music literature. Bach's ability to insert so much beauty, depth and variety in a single line of music makes these works masterpieces of the art of unaccompanied solo music. "In transcribing these works I have attempted to remain true to the composer's intentions while making the music as clarinet friendly as possible. In Bachs Chaconne for violin, there were some passages that were so intensely violinistic it was necessary to remove them." (John Gibson) This is music for advanced players and has been one of my most popular transcriptions. The sample recording is my performance of a short section of the piece. Portions of the Chaconne were featured in the Italian film, Recordi? directed by Valerio Mieli. The clarinetist was Luca Cipriano. Several sections were played during the film. Also included was my recording of a part of Bach's Chromatic Fantasy on clarinet.
