Here is a beautiful, flowing piano solo medley of "In the Heart of Jesus" combined with "Intermezzo" from the opera "Cavalleria Rusticana" by Pietro Mascagni. While maintaining characteristics of Mascagni's original work, subtle variations add a contemporary interpretation creating a relaxing instrumental selection when combined with the meditative hymn by C. H. Forrest.

The hymn's melody is played by the right hand for the first verse and then by the left hand for the second verse. Excerpts of Mascagni's opera provide the introduction, interlude, and concluding phrase. Duration 2:45.

This arrangement is one of the 16 piano solos in the collection "Hymn Favorites, Book 5."
