Product Description
J S Bach wrote his "Inventions and Sinfonias" as musical exercises for his pupils. They are a collection 30 short keyboard pieces, 15 in two part writing and 15 in three part. They are more commonly known as the two part and three part inventions. The two groups of pieces are both arranged in order of ascending key, each group covering eight major and seven minor keys. The inventions lend themselves to duet transcriptions and I have done so for a number of them using a woodwind duet of oboe and bassoon.(i have also provided an alternative clarinet, bass clarinet and cor anglais part for the bassoon part 2.)(There is an alternative clarinet part for the oboe part 1, or it could, "at a pinch" be played on flute, with some octave transpositions where the flute is playing at the bottom of it's range.)
I have taken some liberties with the notes in the 2nd clarinet part and cor anglais to avoid any "clash" with the upper part. They are all excellent exercises in playing scales in their varying keys.Individual inventions are available. See related scores for details:some will be free from time to time. Numbers included 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 & 15.
Possible combinations will be oboe or clarinet (part1instrument), with any of the part 2 instruments: cor anglais, clarinet, bass clarinet or bassoon.
They are also available for clarinet duet/opt 2nd clarinet, transposed, so that Invention No. 1 is in C major as the player reads it, rather than D as in the wind duet version (This score)
