Product Description

Fifteen Symphonien (3-part inventions) for Brass Trio: 2 Cornets or Trumpets & Bass Trombone

The 15 Sinfonias, also known as the Three-Part Inventions, are a collection of short compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. They were initially written as musical exercises for his students, intended to help keyboard players develop their technique and strength in playing with both hands equally. The Sinfonias are significant as they represent a form of three-part counterpoint, providing explicit instruction for students to learn to deal correctly and well with three obbligato parts and achieve a cantabile playing style. The collection consists of 15 sinfonias, each arranged in ascending order of key, covering eight major and seven minor keys. Bach's 15 Sinfonias are valuable for their educational purpose and contribution to the keyboard technique's development. The main difference between Bach's Inventions and Sinfonias is their musical structure. The Inventions are two-part contrapuntal pieces, while the Sinfonias are three-part contrapuntal pieces.
