Product Description

Silent Prisms (2002) meditation for tenor saxophone and piano was written for saxophonist Paul Wehage and is dedicated to composer Philip Goddard.

The work is a continuous transformation of aspects of a single sonority (the opening chord throughout the entire work -- as if reflected through a prism. The prism is "silent", however, and thus what results is not a burst of varied colors, but rather a focused and mystical contemplation on a single idea. Throughout the work, the piano presents a consistent pattern of repeated chords, always independent from the saxophone.
