L'Arlésienne Suite No. 1 opens with a strong, energetic theme, which is based on the Epiphany carol "March of the Kings" (this tune had also been used two centuries earlier in Jean-Baptiste Lully's Marche de Turenne).

This arrangement for clarinet quartet (Bb Clarinet 1 or Eb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet 2, Bb Clarinet 3 or Eb Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet) includes the Ouverture, the first movement of the suite.
