Product Description

Three Kings from Eastern Lands

This is a rich and powerful setting of a familiar nativity story. The main theme is in 5/4 time (which is much easier to read than people might imagine) and an extended middle section is in 3/2 and later 3/4. Although the piece is tonal, theres some chromatic writing making this setting appropriate for more experienced groups of singers. The anthem contains a short a cappella section and theres a short divisi section of two measures for Soprano 1. The work would be an excellent piece for an experienced girl-choir or boy-choir. The piano part is of moderate difficult but could be handled by any competent pianist. The anthem would make an useful addition to any Christmas concert, Christmas service or nativity play.

The vocal ranges are as follows: Soprano 1: C4 - G5; Soprano 2: B3- D5; Alto A flat 3 - D5.  If you like this choral piece, you might also be interested in the other Colin Kirkpatrick Nativity Anthems in this SSA series (also available for SATB):  And a Star is Shining in the East, See this Little Town,  I Saw Three Ships, Sing! For a Boy has been Born and Rejoice and Sing on Christmas Morn.  (Duration 03:42)
