Product Description

The Eriskay Love Lilt is one of Scotlands most popular folk songs. The song became extremely popular after it was recorded in 1964 in a somewhat sanitized version by a folk group called The Seekers. Since then, it has travelled the world and has become a favorite folk song of the British Isles.
Eriskay is a small island lying between the larger islands of South Uist and Barra. They are part of the Outer Hebrides (HEB-rid-eez), a group of islands which stand in the Atlantic Ocean off the rugged north-west coast of Scotland.
In this fairly easy arrangement, the melody is in G major then later in A major. In ¾ time, the cello highest note is G above the bass clef which occurs only once. However, the option is given to play the phrase an octave lower. This is an attractive and compelling arrangement and is sure to be appreciated in any cello recital. The standard is about UK ABRSM Grade 3.
