Ethereal Beauty is a hauntingly beautiful duet for two Advanced Intermediate violinists or a violin and viola (with no accompaniment) that is in the style of a Baroque two part invention, and is designed to supply its own sense of chord structure and progression. It has a haunting folk sound, maybe Appalachian, maybe Gypsy (Roma). It makes a great Concert or Contest piece.
This piece is almost entirely a non-homophonic counterpoint. There are also a number of places that use different minor scales consecutively. Perfect for teacher and student or two players. It's designated an "Advanced Intermediate" piece because of its polyphonic nature. It's not necessarily difficult, but the players will have to pay attention to the counting.
