This is a one-movement concertpiece for three brass quartets and timpani. It is a spacial work - a quartet of cylndrical bore brass (2 trumpets, 2 trombones) on one side; another of conical bore brass (2 flugel horns, Euphonium, Tuba) on the other; four French horns in the middle, with timpani behind them. The piece pits the three timbre groups against one another. Language is quartal harmonies - high horn parts.
