In Stadt und Land (City and Country) Johann Strauss jr. describes musically the contrasts between city and country life at his time. The Polka mazur premiered on 19 January 1868 in the Blumensaal (Flower Hall) in Vienna. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2013 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria, and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
