Kalanda-singing, an age-old tradition still practiced all over Greece, takes place mostly on Christmas and New year's Eve: Children visit all homes in their area singing in exchange for coins and sweets. This arrangement /composition comprises of nine (eight Christmas and one New Year's) songs, chosen among hundreds available, and arranged and composed as an entity, in a conscious effort to retain their original simplicity and "naive" character, as well as respect for the Greek music traditions. More detailed information on geographical origins of the songs used as well as performance suggestions are given in the score. The pdf file contains both the score and the parts of the piece.
This piece could represent something interesting and different in a Christmas concert.

NOTE: I am originally Greek living in Norway most of my adult life, where I have also tried to spread my culture to my new homeland, alongside my other classical work. This has resulted in several both choral and instrumental arrangements of existing Greek music, as well as compositions on Greek subjects, many available on SHEETMUSICPLUS.
When looking for something new or unknown please have a browse either on this site or at my website where both my compositions and arrangements are catalogued according to subject matter and intrumentation.
