Product Description

The Fifteenth Station - The Resurrection for solo piano, is the final movement of a prayerful devotion on The Stations of the Cross, referring to the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday. The music is characterized by recurring themes that appear in other movements of the entire piano cycle of 15 pieces or movements entitled The Stations of the Cross for Solo Piano by John Cartée.

This piece is inspired by a painting from the French painter Eugene Burnand (1850-1921) depicting St. Peter and St. John running to the tomb on Easter Sunday morning which is exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. This piece contains references to a theme entitled The Rhythimical Love of The Trinity representing how The Blessed Trinity is involved in saving mankind through the events of the Easter Triduum. (This theme is also heard in Movements 2 and 12 of the entire piano cycle).

The running repeated note "E" sets the pace of something wonderful and unprecendented happening on earth. The anticipation and excitement of the Risen Christ is evident, and we mere mortals are invited into this divine plan to save mankind from our sins. The repeated note returns after musical drama, and is transformed into what is entitled The Theme of the Heartbeat which was presented in the very first movement, Jesus is Condemned. Christ entrusts his heartbeat to every man woman and child where not only is it beating alongside his Mother Mary as it was in her womb, but with each person of humanity Christ created throughout time. The intimacy of Christ is revealed in The Theme of The Cross and The Rhythmical Love of The Trinity individually presented in earlier movements, but are now juxtaposed on each other.
