This is a divertimento - six short movements in contrasting styles. The intent is for the music to be accessible to general audiences while still being fun to play.

Regarding difficulty, on the whole it's intermediate but there are a couple of factors that might justify calling it "advanced intermediate." The tuba part calls for a secure high register in a couple of places. The trombone part goes into tenor clef at times - and maybe that's appropriate for intermediate players, after all. Movement 6 is in mixed meter at a fairly brisk tempo.

The backstory: I challenged myself to write two pieces with certain differences. One was this - a set of short, listenable movements with very little development of the musical material. The other was to be a single-movement recital piece in a more contemporary style. The latter turned out to be Brass Quintet No. 4. I wrote the two at the same time.

This piece - No. 3 - has proven useful in a number of different performance settings, and pretty easy for a group of advanced students or serious amateurs to put together.
