Hankey was a 19th Century teacher, abolitionist, and hymnist from England. Fisher was a 19th Century binder, music teacher, and hymnist from Baltimore, MD. The song spoke of one's joy in sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Sections A-B and D-E are the verse. Sections C and F are the refrain. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of section C with the help of an Italian augmented sixth chord. A descant by yours truly is intordced in section D.The arrangement should be played in a steady manner - neither rushed nor dragging.
