Chopin wrote a number of preludes for piano solo. His cycle of 24 Preludes, Op. 28, covers all major and minor keys.

In addition, Chopin wrote three other preludes: a prelude in C minor, Op. 45; a piece in A major from 1834; and an unfinished piece in E minor. These are sometimes referred to as Nos. 25, 26, and 27, respectively.

This is no 4 in E minor Largo

This piece was played at the composer's funeral on organ. It consists of a slow melody in the right hand* that prolongs tonic resolution and repeated block chords in the left hand that descend chromatically.
It is quite short- 25 bars.

It is arranged here for wind quintet.

Transposed from E minor into F minor to assist players.

*The Melody is given to the clarinet.
