A Shepherd's Song
by John A. Dempsey
(Verse One)
In the fields at night,
I saw the brightest star
It beckoned me, beckoned me
From afar.
An angel appeared suddenly
As I tended my flock
I was so scared, so amazed,
but he said, "Fear not,
For behold, I bring good tidings to you
of great joy." As he spoke
I rejoiced.
(Chorus)
Savior born this night
Infant, child and king
In a stable bed lies;
He brings joy, He brings light
I celebrate His coming.
I worship Him my Lord
As the night becomes the dawn
I will sing, I will sing
This shepherd's song.
(Verse Two)
One of the first to know,
I was one of the first to hear
The words of the angel still
Echo in my ear:
"For behold, I bring good tidings to you
of great joy." As he spoke,
I rejoiced.
(Repeat chorus)
