The "bergamasca" was a lusty 16th-century dance depicting the allegedly awkward manners of the inhabitants of Bergamo, in northern Italy, where the dance supposedly originated.

These variations for clarinet and guitar are an arrangement of the cello and guitar version (also on YouTube), based on one of the original bergamasca tunes.
