Product Description

In May of 1944, Sherman tanks of the Canadian 3rd Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment (The Governor General's Horse Guards) entered the Liri Valley, southeast of Rome, beginning Operation Diademthe drive that would eventually break through the heavily fortified German defences of the Gustav and Hitler Lines, and liberate Rome.

When the regiment left Italy in early 1945, its mission accomplished, it left behind 61 fallen comrades (out of a total of 71 members of the regiment killed during the War).

To them, to Trooper Ed Stafford, the regiments last surviving veteran of the Italian campaign, and to all who have served, this concert march is dedicated.

Drawing inspiration from classic film soundtracks, the march celebrates the courage, spirit, and heroism of Canada's soldiers and all those who take up arms for their country.
