Catalonia has a great tradition of Christmas carols, rather like Austria. They are secular songs in general, intended to be sung by anybody at any time during the Christmas period. El Noi De La Mare, in English A Mother's Child, is really a lullaby but is so strongly associated with Christmas that it can be considered a carol. It has a great many verses but I have chosen three that I both like and felt I could translate. The tune is lovely and this arrangement for two voices and guitar takes advantage of that both in the guitar part and the harmonised vocal part.
