Product Description

Written by Anglican bishop Reginald Heber (1783-1826) for Trinity Sunday in the liturgical year, Holy, Holy, Holy is a hymn that speaks specifically on the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. John Bacchus Dykes (18231876), an Anglican priest who wrote more than 300 hymn tunes, composed the tune known as NICAEA to accompany Hebers text. The tunes name is a tribute to the First Council of Nicaea, which formalized the doctrine of the Trinity in 325 AD.

A lively dance rhythm characterizes this arrangement, which includes a straightforward presentation of the tune in the first verse, a descant in the second verse, and a modulation to the final, march-like verse.
