Product Description

An interesting example of ragtime music's evolution. The composer didn't seem content to restrict his description of the music to "Ragtime," and attempted to reach a larger audience by adding "March" and "Cakewalk." One can hear the March accompaniment that is interupted here and there by "ragging" the rhythm. Also, the tempo is entirely appropriate for the circle "marches" performed at church picnics and fairs in which the participants walk in a large circle to music and hoping that the music stops when they reach the position beside the cake, thereby "winning" the cake and taking it home.
