Among Guiga disciple musicians, Xisto was one of the sons who took to himself the responsibility to follow up on the implementation of twelve-string viola (country guitar) tradition. In addition to his father, that responsibility had been previously performed by the brothers Totone de Guiga (1914-1938) and Mané Guiga (1916-1995). Xisto Guiga was also responsible for a large volume of works. He produced musics for singing and instrumental musics. The works contain various genres of Brazilian popular music.
