When I was very young, I read about eclipses in an encyclopedia for children. The article described how more primitive societies viewed eclipses as bad omens and how, when they appeared, they could incite chaos in these groups for the duration of the event. This piece, intended for students of intermediate skill, was designed to evoke a sense of unease, leading to panic, followed by a tentative return to normalcy.
