Rufty Tufty

This is a country dance from Playfords English Dancing Master of 1651. I have arranged it with the tune played through three times, first the basic melody, second with (mandolin) double stops, third with chords voiced for octave mandola or bouzouki, tuned GDAE.

In the seventeenth century a rufty tufty was a rough, tough person. Today, it sounds like a childs soft toy. Thats what four hundred years linguistic evolution can do. Hey ho.
