Product Description
This is a lively, singable and catchy setting of the traditional words used at Choral Evensong. The piece features much syncopation in the jazz-like Magnificat, with its repetitive, minimalist accompaniment figures. Meanwhile, the hypnotic Nunc Dimittis repeats its key phrase several times, with increasing dynamics. Both movements end in the customary manner with the Gloria, which is based on the Magnificat's opening. The text is in English, adapted from Luke 1: 46-55 and Luke 2: 29-32. This work is appropriate for most standards of soloist or unison choir, including school, student, community, church and cathedral choirs. The accompaniment is for organ but can be adapted by a good pianist. The SATB version of the work is also available via Sheet Music Plus. The Gloria alone, in various versions, is available via SMP as 'Gloria Patri'.
Duration: 5 minutes 15 seconds.
