Peter Piper is from a 1919 Musical Review called Hitchy Koo for which the just married 28 year old composed both the music and words. It was a "flapper" style, upbeat tune characteristic of the 20's with an interesting contrapuntal use of two melodies opposite each other. The show also contained Porter's first true hit song. This arrangement also has a section by the arranger with additional development of thematic material.
