ABOUT THE ARRANGEMENT
This is a male choir arrangement (TTBB a cappella) of the beautiful Anglo-Irish folksong "The Leaving of Liverpool". This emotional song is about a man who bids farewell to the woman he loves, knowing he won't see her for years, because he's about to travel to America.
In my arrangement I composed each of the three verses in a different way: the first one is sung by the whole choir, allowing the warm traditional male choir sound to unfold. The second verse is a tenor solo, softly accompanied by the humming of the other voices. The third verse, which is sung by the first Bass, is introduced by a surprising key change that will hopefully give goosebumps to the audience.
