Three contemplations on poems of Friedrich Rückert
for oboe and piano (B181a)
Composers note:- This work was written in June 2020 and is an arrangement for
oboe and piano of the composers Drei Rückert Lieder (B181).
The three settings are musically based on a note row split into three parts. The
first eight notes are inverted in the second song and combined in the third. The
remaining notes form a chordal direction to the atmosphere of the songs, which
then move to a largely tonal framework.
The pdf file contains score and oboe part.

Mein Himmel du, darein ich schwebe. My heaven thou, in which I glide.
O du mein Grab, in das hinab O thou my grave, that into which
Ich ewig meine Kummer gab! I always can my troubles ditch!
Du bist die Ruh, du bist der Frieden, Thou art my rest, thou art my peace,
Du bist vom Himmel mir beschieden. Thou art from heaven on me bequeathed.
Dass du mich liebt, macht mich mir wert. That you love me, gives worth to me.
Dein Blick hat mich vor mir verklärt. Illuminated by a glance from thee.
Du hebst mich liebend über mich, You raise me lovingly above myself,
Mein Guter Geist, mein Bess'res Ich! My Guardian Angel, my Better Self!

Zur Wohnumg hier My heart and eyes
Mein Aug und Herz. As dwelling place.
Kehr ein bei mir, Journey to me,
Und schliesse du And safely bind,
Still hinter dir Quietly,
Die Pforten zu. The gate behind.

Allein erhellt, With radiance
O füll es ganz. O fill it whole.
