Product Description

Marsyas was a satyr from Greek mythology, and a virtuoso at the flute. Overcome by his pride, he challenged the god Apollo to a playing contest, to be judged by the Muses. Marsyas lost, and punished for his hubris. This composition is a musical depiction of this story, and based on a trumpet solo I wrote depicting the god Triton. It is like a short symphony in six musical episodes, and is accessible to college and professional flute players.
