The purpose of the book to provide an historical overview of the Australian wind band movement in three categories - pre World War I, World War I to World War II and post World War II.  The discussion of these periods will include an analysis of the major trends, plus comments concerning the nature and scope of the bands from their beginnings to today.  Also the book examines three prominent composers together with a selection of their works:

Percy (George) Aldridge Grainger (1882 1961) "Colonial Song."
