Flash Music is a series of books with short pieces appropriate for performance at band concerts or studio recitals. It is not a method for teaching the instrument; rather, it provides material that teachers can use with their students to improve their technical performance skills.

The series was created under the assumption that students are learning to play in their school band, beginning in grade six. As such, Level 8 is appropriate for advanced students who have finished high school and are not pursuing music at the post-secondary level but wish to maintain their skills.
