Product Description

The classic Sibelius tune Finlandia has become the unofficial national anthem of Finland. This jazz arrangement is a new twist on a classic, prompted by a kid in one of my ensembles saying, why don't you do a jazz version of Finlandia - so I did. The tune comes out well, with the same sense of pride mixed with poignancy. It's suitable for intermediate players and above. I can do bespoke arrangements for other combinations on request. See www.dominicmcgonigal.com

Finlandia did not originally have words. Finnish lyrics were added, written by V A Koskenniemi. They were accepted by Sibelius as the official libretto in 1942.

The English words are from a hymn "We Would Be One" written for the Unitarian Universalists.

This arrangement has both Finnish and English words.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
