Product Description

One of the most famous melodies in Classical music, Franz Lehár's, Vilja, comes from his operetta, Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow). It does not form part of the narrative of the opera but is sung by the character, Hanna, who dressed in traditional Pontevedrin clothes, sings this Pontevedrin song about a "Vilia", a beautiful supernatural character who seduces a hapless hunter. It has subsequently become standard concert repertoire for both male and female singers (here in F major, suitable for mezzos and baritones)
