Product Description

Words and Music by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff. Arranged in 2017 by Rebecca (Boo) de Bruin. 6 pages for Sweet Adelines (ladies' barbershop) quartet. (Tenor, lead, baritone, bass are roughly equivalent to SSAA).

Hero was recorded in 1993 by Mariah Carey. It was her eighth number 1 in the Billboard 100 chart. Hero won Carey  the ASCAP Award for Rhythm & Soul Songwriter and Pop Songwriter. The song was also awarded a BMI Pop Award and was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards.

This arrangement was written for a chorus of young women, with relatively narrow ranges. It is suitable for high school groups, with a positive, self-empowering message.

Vocal ranges are:
Tenor (S1): F4 - G5 (F above middle C to G above high C)
Lead (S2): G3 - Eb5 (G below middle C to Eb above high C)
Baritone (A1): Bb3 - C5 (Bb below middle C to high C)
Bass (A2): F3 - Eb4 (F below middle C to Eb above middle C)

PLEASE NOTE, WOMEN'S BARBERSHOP USES THE NAMES TENOR, LEAD, BARITONE AND BASS, AND OCTAVE SHIFTED BASS CLEFS FOR THE LOWER TWO PARTS. HOWEVER, AS STATED, THIS IS AN SSAA ARRANGEMENT USING THE RANGES LISTED ABOVE.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
