Product Description

American Pie by Don McLean arranged for string quartet American Pie was recorded and released on the American Pie album in 1971, the single was a number-one US hit for four weeks in 1972. In the UK, the single reached number two. The song is heavy with nostalgia for the 1950s and early 60s and laments the darkening of the cultural mood during that time. In February 2015, McLean revealed the meaning of some the lyrics, "Basically in American Pie things are heading in the wrong direction. ... [life] is becoming less idyllic." The lyrics mention Elvis Presley as 'the king' and Bob Dylan as 'the jester'. The arrangement follows Don McLeans original recording, starting and ending slowly. The length is around 5'40".
