Sometimes it helps to pare back a Bible passage from the traditions and interpretations that have clung to it. Imagination plays a part in most of our current manger scenes. The Bible doesnt mention any animals but sheep in Jesus birth record. The Bible connects the star with the magi, not the shepherds. The magi went to a house not the manger. And surprisingly, there is no mention of a stable or cave in the Bible. The manger may have been located in the parking lot of the inn, in the open air. Truly the Son of God had the meekest birth and the most cruel, degrading death. But His Father made sure that his birth was regal with the glory of heaven.
