Product Description

Leo Wood wrote "Somebody Stole My Gal" in 1918, and it became a big hit throughout the next decade. It continued to be performed as a standard right on in to the 1940s.

This version is based on an interpretation the arranger heard in the 1950s while working at an Adirondacks resort hotel. It is upbeat, fun and includes plenty of 1920s-style doo-wacka-doo.

This arrangement was completed in 2014; performance time runs about 2 minutes, 48 seconds. You may contact the arranger, Les Smith, at lessmith@ufl.edu. And, if you liked this novelty number, don't miss the Sweetwater's "Funeral March of a Marionette," "Goodbye! So Long! I'm Headin' Home!" "Hello! Ma Baby," "Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey" and "Teddy Bears' Picnic." For these and other arrangements by Les, enter "Sweetwater Brass Press" (without the quotation marks) in the SheetMusicPlus search box.
