WATCHING THE WHEAT - GUITAR TRIO or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes "This charming Welsh song, Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn, is a three verse song tinged with sadness.
There are
two versions of my arrangement in this one edition.
The first is in conventional SATB style, where the three guitars play tune, harmony and bass lines. It would suit a mixed ability ensemble where the tune player is comfortable to move up the neck.
The second rotates the roles so that each player takes a different role in each verse and each player has the tune at one point. It would suit a more evenly matched ensemble as the tune deserves a consistent tone and volume across the three verses.
The two versions share the same notes.
Theres no fingering on the score (except in a few arpeggio sections where there is a chance to minimise finger movements). This is because a more skilled ensemble might enjoy taking the parts up the neck to achieve a rounder and more lyrical tone,
I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"
This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by "number of instruments", with links to soundclips and sample score.
