This is a piece for woodwind quartet, originally written for some of my students to play in their A level exam. It begins and ends with an adagio section based on simple chords. At letter A the main theme enters on Flute. This theme forms the backbone of the piece and is constructed from the notes of the chords in the adagio. Each instrument has a version of the theme and/or some of the linking material in either a variation or exact repetition. although in a minor key, the mood is never sombre - it is even quite comical - for example at letter F. A great piece for players and audience alike.At 5 minutes long, it gives all the players a chance to show off.
