"In the Hall of the Mountain King" (Dovregubbens hall) was originally composed by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) as incidental music for Peer Gynt - a five-act play by Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906). "In the Hall of the Mountain King" was later included as the finale in Peer Gynt, Suite No. 1, Op. 46, and has become one of Griegs most recognizable works. As the piece unfolds, the music evokes images of trolls, gnomes, and goblins gathered around Dovregubben, the Mountain King.
