Product Description

Flute Choir Program Notes: Summertime is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The song has become a popular and much-recorded jazz standard and is considered one of the finest songs ever written by George Gershwin. This arrangement is scored for piccolo, 3 flutes, alto flute (optional c-flute part is also included), bass flute, and optional contrabass flute. There are divisi notes in several of the parts that help fill out the lush harmonies, and there is an option to add a piccolo on the Flute 1 part.

Phyllis Avidan Louke is a flutist and award-winning composer and arranger with more than 70 published pieces to her credit. www.phyllislouke.com
