Comfort Ye My People is a recitative and Every Valley Shall be Exalted is an air from The Messiah for the Tenor voice, but this flute arrangement puts the solo into the soprano range. The Flute 1 part can be played as a solo or as a section, as long as it can be heard far above the other parts. This arrangement is written a half step higher than the original, putting it into the key of F major. This was done for those who would rather not play in the key of E, and it also (in my opinion) is a little easier on the fingering for the 1st Flute in the key of F. This would be a great piece to add to your Christmas repertoire!
