Product Description
JS Bach wrote this canzona for the organ. It is a typical canzona of its time, consisting of the same melody played in two different time signatures. It also has some chromatic counterpoint in it that makes this piece sound interesting. Only a small number of measures were changed in this piece to accommodate this quartet setting, mainly to do with range and in the effort to not leave any one part sitting without music to play for too long.
Because it was written for the organ, what was transcribed from the original does not have any dynamic markings, which makes sense. I added a few just to indicate that I didn't intend for this piece to be played with no change in dynamics. However, use you own judgment and play this as you feel fit, based on the individual phrasing of each part.
Scored for 2 Bb, alto, and bass clarinets. There is an optional Eb part that can be played in addition to, or in place of the Clarinet 1 part.
Duration: 5.75 minutes
