Product Description

James Reese Europe was an African-American composer and band leader whose music helped effect the transition from ragtime to jazz in the 1910s and whose Harlem Hellfighter regimental band popularized Negro music in France during the first World War. The Castle Walk was written by Europe and Ford Dabney in 1914 for the famous exhibition dancers Vernon and Irene Castle. This upbeat toe-tapper combines elements of the march, ragtime, and jazz. Instrumentation: 2 trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba, opt. percussion. Duration: c. 3:20. Grade 4.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
