Product Description

This work is a string of 50 brief and evocative "moments" in the spirit of haiku minimism, one "moment" for each year of Basho's life. The style is gently avant-garde, with all sorts of musical surprises. Composed in 1994 as the 300th anniversary of Basho's death, it also memorializes this master of the haiku. Heard is the composer at the piano, recorded at Kaji Aso Studio in Boston in 1994, where it received its premiere performance.
