Product Description

"Spring Song," the common name for the Song Without Words, Opus 62 No.6 in A major, or Frühlingslied by Felix Mendelssohn. Songs Without Words (Lieder ohne Worte) is a series of short lyrical piano works by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn written between 1829 and 1845. His sister, Fanny Mendelssohn, and other composers also wrote pieces in the same genre.

The "Spring Song" is a short, lyrical piece for solo piano, characterized by its lighthearted and uplifting melody. It is a popular and well-known composition, often described as having a joyful and springtime feel.

This tempo marking indicates a moderately fast tempo, but with a grace and elegance.

Song No. 6 was also sometimes known in England as "Camberwell Green", being the place in London where Mendelssohn composed it while staying with the Benneckes, relatives of his wife.

Collating music for springtime (in South Africa, this is between August and October), I came across this gem and decided to orchestrate it for a brass quintet. Have fun!
